In an excerpt criticizing the NYT's poor coverage, this paragraph caught my eye while reading Fire Dog Lake blog:

As a result their listeners, as the experience of a Georgia couple illustrates, have become victims of unjustified fear and needless anxiety, fed by the false impression that the federal government is planning to deny or ration their health care.
These conservative media efforts are provably dishonest, but despite having the facts repeatedly corrected and the distortions denounced by numerous experts, the conserative media continue to repeat the false information, leaving those Americans who rely on the sources even more anxious and confused."

I am worried that Conservative Media is more concerned with promoting the Republican Party’s comeback than it is with providing Fair and Balanced reporting. It seems to me that the GOP is focused on power for power’s sake to the exclusion of everything else. Why else would they continue ‘reporting’ Fiction-as-Fact in order to scare Seniors and the Uninsured? The real debate should be about Value For Money, vis-à-vis healthcare, and could even benefit from Conservative input if the GOP wasn’t Hell Bent to depose the Democratic Party. Healthcare reform is sorely needed but I don’t think our Elected Officials are up to the task. The GOP sees the debate only as a power struggle and the DNC naively believes that simply telling the truth is all that is required to win over the electorate. Pity us. mccbarry in Missouri
